The Second International Student Works Exhibition of 2018 Was Held

In order to promote the academic and cultural exchanges between international students and teachers and students at JCI, the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Students' Works Exhibition of 2018 was held in the International Ceramic Studio at Xianghu Campus on the afternoon of June 11. Those attended the opening ceremony are:  Zhang Yalin, dean of School of Design Art; Wang Wenhua, party secretary of Graduate School; Huang Shen, vice dean of the School of Fine Arts; Zhang Jingjing,  vice dean of the International School; Wang Xiaoli, vice minister of the Department of Student’s Affairs; Jin Wenwei, Yv Yong, Cao Chunsheng, Zhang Siping, professors of School of Fine Arts, and representatives of teachers and students at JCI,  and all the teachers and students of International School.

First, Zhang Jingjing, on behalf of the International School, expressed her heartfelt thanks to all the teachers, students and artists. She fully praised the fruitful results the students shared in the exhibition, and hoped that more students would bring their experiences and feelings at JCI back to their country, to share with their friends, assisting the spread of Chinese ceramic culture and communication. She also extended welcome to those ceramics enthusiasts at home and abroad to study and exchange at JCI.

Then, Zhang Jingjing announced this year's results of outstanding works in exhibition. First prize went to "The Continuation of Life" by Shi Anlin from Bahamas; Second prize to "Silence" by Han Chang-jae ( South Korea) and  "Tea Ware" by Shin Bong-suk ( South Korea) ; Third prize to "Lotus in the Sun" by Zheng Binmin (South Korea), "Nameless" by Ni Deming (The United States) and "Flower" by Xu Donghe –(South Korea).  Award of Excellence  went to "Family Photo" by Kim Pan-seok, (South Korea), "Child Memory" by Yoo Sh-Hang (South Korea), "Helping Hand" by Robert (Uganda).  The honored guests presented  granted awards to the winners.

The representative of the prize winners, Yoo Shih Hang from South Korean delivered a speech, in which he said that he was honored to be selected as an exchange student to study in Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute when he was an undergraduate student in South Korea. He will graduate as a master this year and decided to continue to apply for the Ph.D program at JCI. "I am very grateful for the help and care of the school, teachers and students," he said. "I will continue to seek breakthroughs in ceramic art creation and present more and better works to everyone."

The exhibition will last 5 days. More than 30 pieces (groups) of works by students from 11 countries including Korea, France, the United States, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Iraq were exhibited in this exhibition, covering diversified attempts of ceramic design, ceramic sculpture, painting and other contemporary ceramic voice, as well as exploration of modern transformation of the traditional language of porcelain. The works have various artistic styles and rich themes, which not only explain the students' perception and experience of beauty, but also fully demonstrate the students' growth and progress in professional skills and artistic aesthetics at JCI. The guests spoke highly of the exhibition and the students' artistic creation.
