"You can buy anything you can think of. China's Taobao is so convenient!" Wu Zhenxi, a Malaysian student, praised the development of e-commerce in China. "Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Festival!" the international students were scrambling to answer questions about traditional Chinese festivals.

On April 18, JCI's student lecturing group of the 19th National Congress came to International School to have a seminar about the 19th National Congress, discussing the development of the "new age" and "traditional culture" with the international students who are from the United States, South Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia and other foreign countries. The students also experienced the Chinese traditional kite making process and enjoyed the charm of Chinese traditional culture to hearts’ content.

The spirit of the 19th National Congress, especially the interpretation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the call to build a community with a shared future for mankind, resonated with the international students.

Culture rejuvenates the country and strengthens the nation. Facing faces with different skin colors and from different countries, Zhang shared her opinions on "cultural confidence and excellent traditional Chinese culture". From the Four Great inventions to Peking Opera, swing, Cuju (ancient football) and kite, these traditional cultures with distinct Chinese elements attracted the students. At the end of the activity, the lecturing group took out the DIY kites having prepared in advance. Ni Deming, an American student, decorated the kites with ancient coins, carp and blue and white decoration to symbolize good luck. " I want to create more good works," said Han Changzai, a Student from South Korea who would graduate in June and painted the kite with waves, a traditional ceramic decorative motif. After the kites were finished, everyone came to the outdoor, facing the warm spring breeze, and flew their own kite in the blue sky.

The host of the event, Li Ying, a teacher from the International School, said the seminar was meaningful and met the expectations of international students for the 19th National Congress. "Some of them plan to stay in China for a long time. They are very concerned about the 19th Party Congress and the direction of China's development. The seminar is also a way for people to have a systematic understanding of the 19th National Congress." said Li Ying.
