Since the online teaching was launched on February 17, the International School has done a solid job in online Chinese teaching for international students, organizing Chinese teachers to act as "network anchors", allowing international students of different skin colors and races to meet on the network cloud, gain knowledge and enhance relationships.

How to make overseas students with poor listening and speaking ability actively participate in online teaching has become a challenge that Chinese teaching must face. Therefore, International School has decided to carry out online teaching in three classes according to the Chinese proficiency of international students. The courses include Basic Courses of Chinese language such as Chinese reading and writing, Chinese listening and speaking, and Comprehensive Chinese. During the class, in order to communicate with students and improve the teaching quality, Chinese teachers use Tencent classroom and WeChat platform. Although it invites a lot of trouble, they still don’t feel hard. After class, teachers actively seek suggestion from international students on teaching, so as to improve later teaching.

"All this is to do a good job in every class and give students a rich sense of achievement." said Wang Huini, who teaches Listening and Speaking of Chinese.

No pains, no gains. Mukeba Emmanuel, an international student from the Democratic Republic of Congo (King), wrote in the first assignment of "Reading and Writing in Chinese" that "May all Chinese people win the novel corona virus and wish China happy New Year 2020". The teacher, Wang Xiaojuan, first, was surprised and moved by the student's independent learning ability of being able to express his inner thoughts at the primary stage. Second, she felt his love for Chinese language and culture from his sincere wishes. On February 17th, Wang Xiaojuan's birthday, all the lovely overseas students sent sincere birthday wishes to her through the screen. This warm scene shortened the psychological distance between the two sides of the Internet.

In the nearly two weeks of online classes of Chinese, overseas students not only had a high attendance rate, but also spoke positively and interacted actively with the teachers. This made the once uneasy "network anchor" feel very happy and satisfied. Mark, a student from Russia, impressed the teachers. Although affected by the epidemic, he returned to his hometown in advance, but he tried hard to overcome the time zone difference, insisted on attending the whole course, without missing a single class. "Since I chose to study Chinese at JCI, I have to obey the arrangement of the school and the teacher. I hope the epidemic in China will end soon so that we can go back to campus and learn Chinese culture with our teachers and classmates." Mark said.

"In fact, being an anchor is not so difficult as I have imagined. It's quite fun." "We are professional in live broadcasting." Seeing the enthusiasm of the overseas students, teachers of Chinese language could not help expressing their joys in words.
