JCI Held Chinese New Year Celebration Activities for International Students

The Chinese New Year is approaching. in order to make international students feel Chinese traditional culture better, on the afternoon of January 11th, JCI held activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year at its Xianghu Campus. Zhang Jingjing, dean of International School, attended the activity. All the faculty and overseas students of International School enjoyed the celebration together.

In her speech, Zhang Jingjing extended her heartfelt greetings and sincere wishes to the overseas students. She said that the purpose of the activities is to let the majority of international students at JCI have a deeper experience of traditional Chinese culture, increase their friendship with each other, and lay a foundation for their Chinese language learning and specialized study.

At the site, there are not only calligraphy writing and Pipa performance but also dumpling making and couplets writing with full flavor of the New Year. Under the guidance of the teachers, the international students picked up the wrappers, filled them with stuffing and stuck them together step by step, and a unique dumpling was born in their hands. Everyone was in high spirits and took photos with their mobile phones while making dumplings. Under the demonstration of the calligraphy teacher, the students picked up a brush and dipped in ink to write the Spring Festival couplets and other works such as "Fu", "I love China and my teacher", "I love my family" and "I love JCI".

During the activity, international students also displayed their own countries’ characteristic songs, dances and musical instruments. Teachers of JCI also went to the stage to dance with international students. In the dynamic music, everyone expressed their inner joy through dancing and deepened their friendship in the cultural integration and collision.

Teachers and students jointly carried out the activity of painting porcelain vases. Everyone picked up a brush dipped in blue and white, and wrote their names on the biscuit, experiencing the charm of Jingdezhen's ceramic culture. While feeling the charm of traditional Chinese culture, everyone gave a "thumbs up" to the Chinese New Year.
