AsJCUis about to celebrate its 110thanniversary, on the morning of October 11, 2020, the activity "Couplets of 110 words to celebrate the 110thanniversary" sponsored by theJCUCommittee of the Communist Youth League and organized by the Calligraphy Association ofJCUwas held at Hongqi Square of Xianghu Campus.
Both couplets and calligraphy have a deep ethnic and cultural foundation. Mei Shican, Party Secretary ofJCU, hopes that the students ofJCUcan improve their self-cultivation through the poetry couplets and traditional calligraphy. He also inscribed "Tao Da Calligraphy Association" four characters on a plaque for the Calligraphy Association ofJCU.
Before that, to celebrate the 110thanniversary, the "Guiran Academy Cup" national couplet collection contest jointly held by the Chinese Association of Couplets andJCU, hadselected a long couplet with a fixed number of 110 words as the first prize winner.
The first couplet: "Autumn banquet for guests,at the 110th anniversary, looking back on the vicissitudes of life.Changing the school site four times, changing the school name ten times, breaking through the thorns a thousand times, great efforts made to obtain the present achievements."
The second couplet: "Delicate ceramic wares from the Capital of Porcelain, Famous around the world by delivering lots of outstanding talents. Hundreds of years' hard working spirit, superlative craftsmanship and the kiln fire all passed to the younger generations.”
On the occasion of the 110thanniversary ofJCU, 110 students wrote a 110-character couplet on a 110-meter scroll to celebrate the 110thanniversary ofJCU.With traditional calligraphy and poetry couplets, the students express their sincere wishes to their Alma mater, taking inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture as an important mission for contemporaryuniversitystudents.
In addition, the Calligraphy Association ofJCUalso provided more than 1000 bookmarks and sticky notes for its teachers and students, encouraging more to participate in the activity and send sincere blessings to theirAlma mater together.
After writing the 110-meter long couplets, 110 students will together carry the works to the 100-step platform of the library, and arrange them in the traditional way of couplets.

Also,I feel very proud to be able to participate such a birthday celebration forJCUtogether with teachers and schoolmates." Shen Long, a student from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineeringsaid,"I had the honor to participate in the activities of Calligraphy Association to celebrate the anniversary ofJCU. The most spectacular moment was thetimewhen the finished couplets were placed on the 100-step platform. When I stood at the foot of the platform, I could intuitively feel the passion ofthestudents ofJCU. Through 110 years of wind and rain, 110 years of fruitful spring and autumn,JCUwill step into a better future and write a new brilliant chapter!"
