Opening of the 2024 KSBDA-JCU International Art Special Exhibition

On the morning of July 4, the 2024 KSBDA-JCU International Art Special Exhibition opened at the Museum on Xianghu campus. The event is co-hosted by Jingdezhen Ceramic University and the Korean Society of Basic Design & Art (KSBDA), and co-organized by the School of Design and Art, the School of Fine Arts, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (International School), and the Museum of JCU.Lyu Pinchang, Acting President of JCU, and Eom Hyuk-yong, President of KSBDA, each gave speeches, with Lyu Pinchang officially announcing the opening of the exhibition. Attendees included Feng Hao, Vice President of JCU, as well as representatives from institutions such as the Korean Society of Basic Design & Art, the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, the School of Fine Arts of Nanjing Normal University, and the School of Fine Arts of Guangxi Normal University.

In his speech, Lyu Pinchang emphasized that Jingdezhen Ceramic University has a critical responsibility in nurturing talent in the arts. He expressed hope that this international exhibition, co-organized with KSBDA, will serve as a platform to showcase and evaluate recent achievements in the field of international art and design education. The exhibition will foster diverse dialogue across regions and cultures and provide opportunities for collaboration with peers from South Korea, the United States, and other countries. He believes this exchange will contribute to the innovative development and creative transformation of the university’s art and design education and theoretical practices.

In his remarks, Mr. Eom expressed his delight in witnessing the diverse and creative works presented by artists and designers at the exhibition. The theme of the exhibition, “Tradition, Modernity, and the Future of Basic Design,” aims to explore the essence of basic design and its prospects for the future. He hopes that the exhibition will not only be an opportunity to share artistic achievements but also to expand future opportunities for international exchange.

Exhibition Tour

After the opening ceremony, Lyu Pinchang led guests on a tour of the exhibition. Over 590 artists, students, and faculty members from various countries are participating in the exhibition, including more than 180 participants from JCU. Nearly 600 high-quality artworks are on display, covering a wide range of categories, including painting, sculpture, ceramic art, craft design, industrial design, environmental art, graphic design, photography, animation, and digital media art. The exhibition will run until August 4.
