From September 16 to 19, Professor Lyu Pinchang, chief expert of the “Research on the Internationalization Strategy of Chinese Ceramic Art” project under the National Social Science Fund for Arts, led a research team to Portugal. The team conducted an extensive field study and exchange activities while attending the 51st International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) Congress.

Field Studies at Portuguese Museums, Galleries, and Ceramic Enterprises
During the visit, the team carried out an in-depth investigation into the current state of Portuguese ceramic art, exploring local museums, kilns, creative workshops, ceramic factories, and ceramic trade and creative markets. Through these visits, they gained a profound appreciation of the unique charm of Portuguese ceramics and deepened their understanding of the exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Portuguese ceramic arts. The research revealed ceramics as a significant cultural bridge, facilitating Sino-European trade and cultural exchange.

Exploration of Portuguese Ceramic Markets and Innovation Hubs
The on-site investigation provided the research team with a wealth of valuable first-hand data. These findings will serve as essential resources to support and inform the advancement of the internationalization strategy for Chinese ceramic art.
Through continuous international exchanges and collaboration, Chinese ceramic art seeks to carry forward the Silk Road spirit, showcasing the innovative vitality of Chinese ceramic culture in the modern era. With a fresh perspective, it aims to engage with the global stage, foster cross-cultural dialogue in the ceramic arts, and contribute Chinese wisdom and solutions to the shared interests of humanity.
