
On the afternoon of October 17, the opening ceremony for the 2024 cohort of international students at Jingdezhen Ceramic University was held in the lecture hall of the Graduate Art Experiment Building on the Xianghu Campus. The event was attended by Professor Lyu Pinchang, Acting President of JCU and Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, as well as Mr. Yang Zhimin, Head of the Party Organization Department. The ceremony was hosted by Ms. Zhang Jingjing, Dean of the International School and Director of the Office for International Cooperation and Exchange.

All faculty members and international students watched the university’s promotional video,The Huangpu of Ceramics.

On behalf of the university, Professor Lyu warmly welcomed the new international students of the 2024 class. He introduced them to the history of JCU and its achievements in international education. He also shared his hopes for the students.
First, he encouraged students to adjust to their new academic and living environment and integrate into the vibrant community on campus. Second, he urges students to maintain an open mind and a spirit of inclusiveness, respect cultural differences, actively participate in international exchanges, and enhance their global perspectives and intercultural communication skills. Third, he advised students to make full use of the university’s excellent educational resources and international platform, study diligently, and contribute positively to the world by promoting shared values and fostering cooperation among nations.
Lyu emphasized that JCU is not just a place for learning but also a warm and caring family. The university is committed to providing support and services to help students overcome any challenges they may face in their academic or personal lives. Together, he said, they could build a harmonious, inclusive, and progressive environment for an enriching study-abroad experience

Faculty representative, Professor Hu Xuebing from the School of Materials Science and Engineering addressed the new international students, sharing valuable insights on learning, personal growth, and future planning. He emphasized the importance of setting clear goals—both short-term and long-term—and achieving them step by step to realize academic success and life aspirations. He encouraged students to cultivate good study habits, manage their time effectively, and strive for excellent academic performance. Professor Hu also stressed the significance of maintaining open communication with professors to foster a harmonious teacher-student relationship, solve challenges together, and achieve progress. He urged the students to bravely pursue their dreams, embrace challenges, and create a fulfilling journey at JCU.
Zhiyuan, a senior computer science student from Morocco, shared her experiences, describing her time in Jingdezhen as a unique and fulfilling journey. She expressed her deep admiration for the city’s profound ceramic culture and rich history. Reflecting on her studies, she mentioned the engaging courses, meaningful activities, and the unwavering support from faculty and fellow students. She highlighted how these experiences have not only deepened her appreciation for Chinese culture and hospitality but also enhanced her professional knowledge and overall abilities. Zhiyuan encouraged the new students to embrace challenges, study hard, and cherish every moment at the university.
Ibu, a new student from Yemen majoring in Visual Communication, shared his fascination with the Chinese language, describing it as infinitely captivating. Grateful for the learning opportunities at the university, he expressed his desire to make more Chinese friends, exchange stories and cultural insights, and gain a better understanding of Chinese society, history, and traditions. Ibu concluded by encouraging his peers to work together to achieve their dreams, marking their time at JCU as the beginning of an inspiring new chapter




During the ceremony, ProfessorLyuand Mr. Yang presented certificates to the recipients of the 2024 International Student Scholarships.
he event was attended by representatives from various university departments, including the Party Organization Department, the Publicity Department, the United Front Work Department, the Student Affairs Department, the Academic Affairs Office, the Security Office, the Graduate School, and faculties such as the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Fine Arts, and the School of Design and Art. Representatives from the Sports and Military Education Department, international ceramic artists, all faculty members of the International School and the Office for International Cooperation and Exchange, all international students, and representatives from the Qiaomailin Police Station were also present.
