Yun Wang, a foreign teacher from the School ofInternationalCulture and Communication, was invited to attend the Association for Asian Studies Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio, USA, from March 13 to 16. She delivered an academic presentation titled "Revealing Regional Networks: The Lesser-known Art Dealers and Collectors in Early 20th Century China."

Wang's presentation focused on her research on a counterfeit leaf-shaped pillow from the Northern Song Dynasty found during her collection studies at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Canada. She explored the journey of this counterfeit entering museum collections, elucidating the influence of cultural relativism on Western antique collectors. Wang also revealed the early efforts of overseas museums, using ROM as an example, to seek collections of Song Dynasty porcelain and the "Five Great Kilns," revered as models of Chinese culture. She introduced endorsements from late Ming literati collectors and Qing Dynasty royals for the "Five Great Kilns," explaining why Song Dynasty porcelain became an early focus of collections and extending to the broader collection of Chinese ceramics at the ROM.

Established in 1941, the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) is a non-political, non-profit academic research organization with over 7,000 members worldwide.
