On the afternoon of February 20, a delegation of faculty and students from Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand visited JCU for academic and cultural exchange. Yang Zhimin, Member of the University Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department, warmly received the guests and hosted an art education symposium at the Comprehensive Conference Hall of the Xianghu Campus. Representatives from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Fine Arts, School of Archaeology and Museology, and the International School also attended the symposium.

The event began with all participants watching the university’s promotional film. Yang Zhimin extended a warm welcome to the Thai delegation and gave a brief overview of JCU’s history and international cooperation initiatives. He noted that the university has developed into a key hub for talent cultivation, technological innovation, and cultural exchange in the field of ceramics in China and beyond. In recent years, JCU has leveraged its distinctive disciplinary strengths and taken on the mission of promoting traditional Chinese culture. It has deepened mutual learning and connectivity with countries around the world in the field of ceramic education. He expressed hope that this visit would help lay the foundation for a university-level partnership between the two institutions, leading to practical cooperation in talent development, academic programs, and scholarly exchange—fostering mutual strengths and joint growth.

During the visit, Professor Paothong Thongchua from the Thai side delivered a presentation titled Discoveries of Chinese Cultural Relics in Thailand and the Influence of Chinese Porcelain on Thai Ceramics. The International School also gave an introduction on study abroad programs for prospective international students.

Zhang Jingjing, Dean of the International School and Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange (Office for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs) held in-depth discussions with the Thai delegation on possible modes and areas of future collaboration between the two universities.

After the symposium, the Thai guests, accompanied by Dean Zhang, visited the International Ceramic Art Studio and experienced blue-and-white porcelain painting firsthand.
