The Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Undergraduate Education was Successfully Held
On October 20, 1958, Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, which opened its undergraduate education then, held its opening ceremony. A university with 100 years history has a brilliant 60 years’ experience of undergraduate education. In order to carry forward its spirit, to show its achievements, to sum up the experience of running a school, to rally the strength of all parties, to further the endeavor of building a high-level ceramic university, to accelerate the construction of a high-level ceramic university with important influence at home and abroad, JCI held its 60th anniversary celebration of undergraduate education around October 20, 2018.
On October 17th, a press conference was held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of undergraduate education at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute. More than 100 reporters from more than 40 media across the country, including CCTV, China News Agency, China Education Television, Xinhuanet and Jiangxi Daily, focused on the scene.
On the same day, an opening ceremony of Cultural and Artistic Achievements Exhibition for Retired Old Comrades and the celebration of the Double Ninth Festival was held at Xinchang Campus. School leaders met with those old comrades who have been working in JCI since the school began undergraduate edu in 1958 and presented flowers to the old comrades in the reception room of the Art Museum at Xinchang Campus. The exhibition features more than 150 pieces of works of ceramic art, calligraphy painting photography, poetry prose, scientific and technological achievements of retired old comrades from JCI, showing the richness of the retirement life of the old comrades and their best wishes for the development of JCI.
On October 18th, the school held a ceremony in front of the Yifu Library at Xianghu Campus “A Hundred years’ Journey” - the inauguration of the statues of three deceased principals Zhang Hao, Wang Fan and Zhao Yuan. JCI 's main leaders , representatives of Zhang Hao, Wang Fan's relatives, and Lai Fusheng, an undergraduate student in 1958, unveiled the statue of the three old principals and offered flower baskets.
On October 19th, JCI held the inauguration ceremony of the statue of Mr. Hu Xianya and the opening ceremony of exhibition of his works, commemorating the 116th anniversary of Mr. Hu Xianya's birth in front of the Undergraduate Art Experiment Building at Xianghu Campus. Main leaders of JCI, representatives of Hu's relatives and the statue's authors jointly unveiled the statue. The exhibition features 60 works of Mr. Hu's paintings and calligraphy. On the same day, an academic seminar to commemorate the 116th anniversary of Mr. Hu's birth was held in the conference room of the School of Ceramic Fine Arts.
On the same day, the opening ceremony of the Career Development Exhibition of 100 Alumni was held in front of the Graduate Art Experiment Building at Xianghu Campus. The student representative wore the honorary alumni badge and school badge for the alumni. The exhibition is divided into five parts: Leading cadres, Star-gathering, JCI phenomenon, Local alumni association and Future stars.
In the afternoon, Advanced Research Institute of Ceramic Culture of JCI was unveiled in the Graduate Art Experiment Building at Xianghu Campus. Jiang Weihui, Qin Xilin, Xia Gaosheng, vice chairman of the China Building and Sanitary Ceramics Association, and Fang Lili, director of the Institute of Art Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Arts, jointly unveiled the plaque for the Advanced Research Institute of Ceramic Culture of JCI. Ning Gang serves as the director of the research institute, and Guo Li serves as the executive vice director. Experts and artists were awarded Employment Letter on the spot. The establishment of Advanced Research Institute of Ceramic Culture is to meet the innovative development needs of ceramic culture industry at a higher level, to better play the leading role in ceramic creativity, to make the highest pitch of sound of JCI in the ceramic world. In the future, JCI will promote its Advanced Research Institute of Ceramic Culture to become the world's ceramic cultural bank of resources, data, talents and achievements, as well as a center of worldwide ceramic cultural research and communication.
On October 20th, the 60th anniversary celebration of undergraduate education of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute was held in the Student Activity Center at Xianghu Campus. Leaders at all levels of JCI, leaders and guests of the former institutions directly under the Ministry of Light Industry, independently established undergraduate art colleges, overseas friendship colleges, and brother colleges inside and outside Jiangxi province, experts and scholars attending the 2018 Ceramic Education Seminar, representatives from all walks of life, and the alumni at home and abroad on behalf of the teachers and students, more than 700 in total, participated in the meeting.
On the same day, "Integration and Innovation" ---- 2018 Ceramic Education Symposium was held at Xianghu Campus. This academic seminar was jointly organized by JCI and more than 20 universities and institutions such as Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Wuhan University, Macao University of Science and Technology, École Nationale Superieure D’art Limoges, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Accademia di Belle Arti dell'Aquila, Wonkwang University and IAC (International Academy of Ceramics), as well as well-known Chinese and foreign ceramic enterprises. The seminar, focusing on the development of Chinese ceramic education in the new era, discussed in depth on the training of talents in the field of ceramic art, engineering and management.
That evening, an evening party celebrating the 60th anniversary of undergraduate education was held in Student Activity Center Theater at Xianghu Campus. Leaders, guests from all walks of life, alumni, teachers and students representatives, more than 600 people watched the performance. The evening party, with wonderful ceramic and campus elements, showed teachers and students’ unremitting pursuit of promoting the Chinese ceramic culture and revitalizing China's ceramic industry, and encouraged everyone’s endeavor to build JCI into a high-level ceramic university at home and abroad.
In order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of undergraduate education, JCI has edited and published Collection of Excellent Papers on the 60th Anniversary of Undergraduate Education of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, Collection of Scientific and Technological Achievements on the 60th Anniversary of Undergraduate Education of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, and Collection of Art Works on the 60th Anniversary of Undergraduate Education of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute.
In addition, the Alumni Association, relevant departments and various schools also organized academic, scientific, technological, recreational, sports activities and ceremonies about the 60th anniversary of undergraduate education, such as donation, scholarship establishment, visiting professor employment, academic lectures, exhibition of art works of alumni, teachers and students; and alumni basketball and football matches.
The celebration of the 60th anniversary of undergraduate education actively displayed the achievements of JCI, fully displayed the image of the university, gathered the strength of teachers, students and alumni, and attracted a lot of media attention and publicity.
